FACTORIZATION C3


Factorize 6x2 + 17x – 3.

Solution

= 6x2 + 17x – 3.We split the middle term (17x) to be (-x + 18x).
= 6x2 -x + 18x – 3    
= (6x2 – x) + (18x – 3)    
= x(6x – 1) + 3(6x – 1)    
= (x + 3) (6x - 1)

Hence 6x2 + 17x – 3 = (x + 3) (6x - 1) answer.
