GRADIENTS A8

Find the slope of a line which passes through (10, -2) and (6,-9)

Solution

x1 = 10,  y1 =-2,  x2 = 6,  y2 = -9

m = y2 –y1
       x2 – x1

m =   -9 –(-2)
          6 –10

m =   -9 + 2
           -4

m =    -7
          -4

Hence the slope is 7/4
