PROBABILITY 2

The probability of selecting a red ball from a box is 5/33. Find the probability of not selecting a red ball.

Solution

P(E) + P(E’) = 1

Now, P(E) = 5/33, P(E’)=?

P(E) + P(E’) = 1

5/33 + P(E’) = 1

P(E’) = 1 - 5/33

P(E’) = 33/33 - 5/33

P(E’) = 28/33

Hence the probability of not selecting a red ball is 28/33.
