GRADIENT OR SLOPE 4

Find the slope of a line which passes through (-5, -12) and (6,-9)

Solution

x1 = -5,  y1 =-12,  x2 = 6,  y2 = -9

m = y2 –y1
       x2 – x1

m =   -9 –(-12)
           6 –(-5)

m =   -9 + 12
           6 + 5

m =     3
          11

Hence the slope is 3/11
