MAKING THE SUBJECT 1

If M = y(w + a)    make a the subject of the formula.
            (w – a)

Solution

M = y(w + a)
         (w – a)

(w – a) x M = y(w + a) x (w – a)   multiply by(w-a) on both sides.
                         (w – a)

(w – a) x M = y(w + a) open the brackets on both sides.

Mw – Ma = yw + ya

Mw – wb = Ma + ya   (collect the terms containing a together)

Mw – yw = a(M + y)

Mw – yw = a(M + y) 1               Divide by (M + y) on both sides.
(M + y)         (M + y) 1

Mw – yw = a
(M + y)

Hence  a =   Mw – yw
                     M + y

TRY THIS…………

If B = r(h + c)    make h the subject of the formula.

            (h – c)
