Factorize completely (2x-2)² - x²

solution

= (2x-2)² - x²

= [(2x-2) - x][ (2x-2) + x ] --- since a² + b² = (a+b)(a-b) Here a is (x-2) and b is x.

= [2x-2 - x][ 2x-2 + x ]

= [2x-x-2][ 2x+ x - 2 ]

= [x-2][ 3x - 2 ]

Hence (x-2)² - x² = (x-2)( 3x - 2)
