Find the general term of an A. P. which has the 1st term of
-62 and common difference of 17.
Solution
A1 = -62, d= 17, n = n.
An = A1 + (n-1)d
= -62 + (n-1)17
= -62 + 17n-17
= 17n -17-62
= 17n- 79 [ since -17-62= -79 ]
∴ An = 17n- 79
Hence the
general term is 17n- 79.
