Evaluate the following giving your answer in standard form.

   5 x 10^-50

Solution

=  448.4 x 10^-30

       5 x 10^-50

=  448.4  x   10^-30

       5            10^-50

=  89.68 x 10^{-30 –(-50)}

=  89.68 x 10^-30+50    

=  89.68 x 10²⁰      then we change 89.68 into standard form as well

= 8.968 x 10¹ x 10²⁰   when we have exponents with same base, we add the Powers.

= 8.968 x 10¹⁺²⁰

= 8.968 x 10²¹

Hence   448.4 x 10^-30   = 8.968 x 10²¹

                 5 x 10^-50
