If Log[(2x-8)/(17-3x)] = 0. Find x.

Solution

Log[(2x-8)/(17-3x)] = 0.

2x-8 = 10⁰. After changing into exponential form

17-3x

2x-8 = 1    since [10⁰=1]

17-3x

2x-8 = 1(17-3x)  after cross multiply

  

2x-8 = 17-3x

2x+3x = 17+8 [collecting like terms]

5x = 25

x=5  [after dividing by 5 both sides]

Hence x=5.
