The 1st term of an A.P. is 80 and the common difference is 27. Find the nth term.

Solution

A₁= 80, d = 27

A_n = A₁ + (n-1)d

A_n = 80 + (n-1)27

A_n = 80 + 27n – 27

A_n = 27n - 53

Hence the nth term is 27n - 53.
