SLOPE OR GRADIENT 1

Find the slope of a line which passes through (4, -2) and (6,-9)

Solution

x1 = 4,  y1 =-2,  x2 = 6,  y2 = -9

m = y2 –y1
         x2 – x1

m =   -9 –(-2)
          6 –4

m =   -9 + 2
            2

m =    - 7
           2

Hence the slope is -7/2
