SLOPE OR GRADIENT 2

Find the slope of a line which passes through (-1, -2) and (6,-9)

Solution

x1 = -1,  y1 =-2,  x2 = 6,  y2 = -9

m = y2 –y1
         x2 – x1

m =   -9 –(-2)
         6 –(-1)

m =   -9 + 2
         6 + 1

m =    - 7
           7

m =    - 1

Hence the slope is -1
