Find w in the following equation;

2w - w-3 = w

2w - w-3 = w

5        2      5

The LCM of 5 and 2 is 10. So, we multiply by 10 throughout

10x 2w - 10(w-3) = w x 10

      5              2             5

²10x 2w - ⁵10(w-3) = w x 10²

       ₁5            ₁2         5₁

2 x 2w - 5(w-3) = 2w

4w - 5w + 15 = 2w

-w + 15 = 2w

15 = 2w + w

15 = 3w

15 = 3w

3      3

5 = w

Hence w = 5
