SETS 1

If n(A)= 62 , n(B)= 98 and n(AuB)=80, find n(AnB).

Solution

n(AuB) = n(A) + n(B) - n(AnB)

       80 = 62 + 98 - n(AnB)

            80 = 160  - n(AnB)

            80 - 160 = - n(AnB)

-80 = - n(AnB)

80 = n(AnB) (after dividing by -1 on both sides)

Hence n(AnB) = 80 answer

TRY THIS.........

If n(A)= 54 , n(B)= 86 and n(AuB)=80, find n(AnB).
