Find the slope of a line which passes through (-3, -4) and (8,-13)

 

Solution

 

x1 = -3,  y1 =-4,  x2 = 8,  y2 = -13

 

m = y2 –y1

       x2 – x1

 

m =   -13 –(-4)

          8 –(-3)

 

m =   -13 + 4         [Since -(-4) = +4, and -(-3) = +3] 

          8 + 3

 

m =    - 9

          11

 

Hence the slope is -9/11
