ALGEBRA-2

What is x if 6x + 5y = 40 and y=6?

solution

6x + 5y = 40

6x + 5(6) = 40;           [since y=6.]

6x + 30 = 40

6x = 40 - 30

6x = 10

6x = 10
6      6

x = 10/6
