Solution

=  398.7 x 10^-20

       5 x 10^-50

=  398.7  x   10^-20

       5            10^-50

=  79.74 x 10^{-20 –(-50)}

=  79.74 x 10^-20+50    

=  79.74 x 10³⁰      then we change 79.74 into standard form as well

= 7.974 x 10¹ x 10³⁰   when we have exponents with same base, we add the

                                   Powers.

= 7.974 x 10¹⁺³⁰

= 7.974 x 10³¹

Hence   398.7 x 10^-20    = 7.974 x 10³¹
