If  x+6y = 1            find  ^x/y             

    2x-3y   4

 

solution

 

x+6y =  1           

2x-3y   4

 

1(2x-3y) = 4(x+6y)           [after cross multiplying]

 

2x-3y = 4x+24y

 

2x - 4x = 3y + 24y   (Collecting like terms)

 

-2x = 27y

 

¹-2x =   27y                (dividing by -2 both sides)       

₁-2       -2  

 

 x = -13.5y             

     

x = -13.5y                  (dividing by y both sides)       

y          y

 

x = -13.5

y    

 

Hence ^x/_y = -13.5  answer.
