ALGEBRA - I1

 If │4x – 7 │= 19; Find  x

 

Solution

 

±(4x – 11 )= 19

 

4x -11= 19   OR   –(4x-11) = 19

 

4x – 11 = 19    OR   -4x+11=19

 

4x = 19 + 11    OR   -4x= 19-11

 

4x = 30     OR   -4x  =   8

4      4               -4        -4

 

x = 7/2  OR  x = -2

 

 

Hence x = 7/2  OR  x = -2
