TRANSPOSITION OF FORMULAE - 2

If M = u(b + a)    make a the subject of the formula.
             (b – a)

Solution

M = u(b + a)
          (b – a)

(b – a) x M = u(b + a) x (b – a)   multiply by(b-a) on both sides.
                         (b – a)

(b – a) x M = u(b + a) open the brackets on both sides.

Mb – Ma = ub + ua

Mb – ub = Ma + ua   (collect the terms containing a together)

Mb – ub = a(M + u)

Mb – ub = a(M + u) 1               Divide by (M + u) on both sides.
(M + u)         (M + u) 1

Mb – ub = a
(M + u)

Hence  a =   Mb – ub
                      (M + u)

   TRY THIS………………….

 If M = u(c + e)    make e the subject of the formula.
               (c – e)
