Find the slope of a line which passes through (8, -2) and (6,-9)

Solution

x₁ = 8,  y₁ =-2,  x₂ = 6,  y₂ = -9

m = y2 –y1

       x2 – x1

m =   -9 –(-2)

          6 –8

m =   -9 + 2

           -2

m =    - 7

          -2

Hence the slope is 7/2
