SLOPE OR GRADIENT - 2

Find the slope of a line which passes through (7, 13) and (6, 8).

Solution

x1 = 7,  y1 =13,  x2 = 6,  y2 = 8

m = y2 –y1
     x2 – x1

m =   8 –13
        6 –7

m =   -5
        -1

Hence the slope is 5

DIFFERENCE OF 2 SQUARES - 2

Evaluate 23572 – 23472

Solution

23572 – 23472 = (2357 + 2347)( 2357 – 2347)

                     = (4704)( 10)

                     = 47040

Hence 23572 – 23472 = 177040.

If Logax = 1/2  Loga49+ 1/3 Loga27 find x.

Solution

Logax = 1/2  Loga49+ 1/3 Loga27

Logax = Loga491/2  +  Loga271/3

Logax = Loga 7 +  Loga3

Logax = Loga (7 x 3)

Logax = Loga 21

x = 21.

SLOPE OR GRADIENT 1

Find the slope of a line which passes through (10, 4) and (6, 8)

Solution

x1 = 10,  y1 =4,  x2 = 6,  y2 = 8

m = y2 –y1
      x2 – x1

m =   8 –4
        6 –10

m =   4   = -1
       -4

Hence the slope is -1
