SLOPE OR GRADIENT 1

Find the slope of a line which passes through (-1, -8) and (6,-9)

Solution

x1 = -1,  y1 =-8,  x2 = 6,  y2 = -9

m = y2 –y1
       x2 – x1

m =   -9 –(-8)
         6 –(-1)

m =   -9 + 8
         6 + 1

m =    - 1
            7

Hence the slope is -1/7
