ALGEBRA-1

What is x if 2x + 5y = 40 and y=6?

solution

2x + 5y = 40

2x + 5(6) = 40;           [since y=6.]

2x + 30 = 40

2x = 40 - 30

2x = 10

2x = 10
2      2

x = 5

Hence x = 5
