If 9x² - 6x + m is a perfect square, find m.

Solution

a = 9, b = -6, c = m.

b² = 4ac

(-6)² = 4 x (9) x m

36 = 36m

 36  =    36m   [dividing by 36 each side]

 36        36

           

m = 1

Hence m = 1
