If p*k = 7pk + p – 2k; find 7*3.

Solution

p*k = (7 x p x k) + p – (2xk)   [rewriting the given expression more clearly]


7*2 = (7 x 7 x 3) + 7 – (2x3)   [substituting 7 for p and 3 for k]


7*2 = 147 + 7 – 6


7*2 = 154 – 6   [we add first before subtracting]


7*2 = 148.


Hence   7*2 = 148.
