ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION 2

The 1st term of an A.P. is 80 and the common difference is 97. Find the nth term.

Solution

A₁= 80, d = 97

A_n = A₁ + (n-1)d

A_n = 80 + (n-1)97

A_n = 80 + 97n – 97

A_n = 97n - 17

Hence the nth term is 97n - 17.
