If 5^2w (40^w) = 10^w+40 ; Find w.

Solution

5^2w (40^w) = 10^w+40

(5²)^w (40^w) = 10^w+40

(25)^w (40^w) = 10^w+40

(25 x 40)^w = 10^w+40

(1000)^w = 10^w+40

(10³)^w = 10^w+40

10^3w = 10^w+40 (Bases are alike, so they cancel out)

3w = w+40

3w - w = 40

2w = 40

2w = 40²⁰

w = 20
