ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION-3

The 1st term of an A.P. is 70 and the common difference is 34. Find the nth term.

Solution

A1= 70, d = 34

An = A1 + (n-1)d

An = 70 + (n-1)34     [after substituting A1= 70, d = 34 as given above]

∴ An = 70 + 34n - 34

An = 36 + 34n

Hence the nth term is 36 + 34n
