Find the slope of a line which passes through (-8, -2) and (6,-11)

Solution

x₁ = -8,  y₁ =-2,  x₂ = 6,  y₂ = -11

m = y2 –y1

          x2 – x1

m =   -11 –(-2)

           6 –(-8)

m =   -11 + 2

           6 + 8

m =    - 9

           14

Hence the slope is -7/14
