It intends to involve the learners by making them follow up the examples before they can do questions on their own at the TRY THIS.... section. FACTORIZATION - 6

Factorize 6x² + 7x - 5

Solution

= 6x² + 7x - 5. ---- We split the middle term (+7x) to be (-3x + 10x).

= 6x² - 3x + 10x – 5 ----- (-3x) = -14x + 5x.

= (6x² -3x) + (10x - 5) ---- grouping the factors.

= 3x(2x - 1) + 5(2x - 1)

= (3x + 5) (2x -1)

Hence 6x² + 7x - 5= (3x + 5) (2x -1)answer.

Factorize 14x² + 3x – 2.
