Find the axis of symmetry for F(x) = 3x² - 48x + 5

Solution

a=3, b=-48

Axis of symmetry = -b/2a

                             =  -(-48)

                                 2 x 3

                            =    48

                                  6

Hence the axis of symmetry is 8
