TRANSPOSITION OF FORMULAE

If M = y(b + a)    make a the subject of the formula.
             (b – a)

Solution

M = y(b + a)
          (b – a)

(b – a) x M = y(b + a) x (b – a)   multiply by(b-a) on both sides.
                         (b – a)

(b – a) x M = y(b + a) open the brackets on both sides.

Mb – Ma = yb + ya

Mb – yb = Ma + ya   (collect the terms containing a together)

Mb – yb = a(M + y)

Mb – yb = a(M + y) 1               Divide by (M + y) on both sides.
(M + y)         (M + y) 1

Mb – yb = a
(M + y)

Hence  a =   Mb – yb
                      (M + y)

TRY THIS…………

If B = r(h + c)    make c the subject of the formula.
         (h – c)
