Calculate the mean.

Solution

In this question we are going to apply the method of assumed mean.

Here you are required to produce the frequency distribution table.

Let us take 27 as our assumed mean (A). Take away the assumed mean from each class mark.

∑f = 60
∑fd = 70

Mean = A +  ∑fd
                      ∑f

Mean = 27 +  (70)
                        60

Mean = 27 +  (1.167)

Mean = 28.17 (to 2d.p)

Hence Mean =  28.17
