If 11x + 5 ≥ 16 + 7x ≥ 15x – 12; find x.

Solution

11x + 5 ≥ 16 + 7x and  16 + 7x ≥ 15x – 12

11x – 7x ≤ 16 - 5  and  15 +12 ≤ 15x - 7x

4x ≤ 11 and  27 ≤ 8x 

4x ≤ 11  and  27 ≤ 8x
4        4            8     8

x ≤ 11/4 and  27/8 ≤ x

x ≤ 11/4   and  x  ≥ 27/8
